In 2020, my mom was forced to retire from her career as a school teacher. In 2022, my mom was diagnosed with Alzheimer's. By this time, I had gotten frustrated with submitting to 100's of literary agents and publishers. After hundreds of book submissions hoping to get a published deal, I was met with the words "I'm not interested" each time. My dreams of being an author were on the shelf until further notice. 

As my mom's Alzheimer's progressed, we needed immediate help with day to day tasks. We found a facility at a Senior Home that I was excited about. The staff was friendly and the senior tenants were extremely active however the cost was out of this world. In addition, they did not allow my mom to keep Fred but this was our only option considering quality and budget. We have struggled to keep up with payments as it is so expensive. I've decided to launch my book as a means of paying for my mother's Senior Home and hopefully moving her to a new home with care so that she can reunite with her family and Fred.

~The Line From My Sister 
that Inspired the Book.

My Name is Brandon Hazzard. I'm from Atlanta, Georgia & I'm a first time book author. There's a funny story behind what inspired me to write this book, let me tell you...

 

Well my immediate family consists of myself, my mom, my sister and Fred of course. Fred is a Miniature Schnauzer which requires him to get a haircut as this particular breed doesn't shed. So, as a family we take turns taking Fred to the hair groomer. On one particular day, it was my sister's turn to take Fred to the groomer. 


That morning, she grabs Fred and drops him off for his haircut. Later that evening, I sent her a text asking to take a picture of Fred so we could see how cool he looks post haircut. It was around 7:00 PM, so I knew the groomer was closed. Fred and my sister should be on the way home at this point. After a long awaited text response as I wait for Fred's picture, my sister finally responds...

Fred had to stay overnight at the groomers. I'm sure it was a long night for him but we went to get him the next morning. This became a running joke in the family and ultimately inspired me to write the book...
